Emergence Counseling was founded by Kyle Turner in an effort to reduce barriers in accessing mental health services. Emergence offers private pay, sliding scale, and pro-bono options for clients of all backgrounds, and is currently pursuing paneling with CareFirst and other major providers. Emergence operates entirely virtually--all you need is a private, distraction-free environment and an internet connection. 

Kyle worked as an elementary school teacher, ESL instructor, and nanny before obtaining a master's degrees in health psychology and mental health counseling. He is currently a licensed graduate professional counselor pursuing further certification in the state of Maryland. 

He draws from a variety of theoretical orientations including existential therapy, CBT, DBT, emotion-focused therapy, and nature-informed therapy.
